Exclusive media restaurant opens in Soho

One constant in the dizzy world of New Media is the age old tradition of Media Owners and Junior Plannerbuyers idling away a lunchtime hour or two over a jolly pleasant lunch. Convening in a convenient bistro whilst gorging over the finer details of a particularly complex and in depth brief, the unlikely bed fellows use the time wisely to work towards a mutually beneficial and occasionally ground breaking media first for the benefit of a client.

Of course it isn’t always this way, and it has been known, ye gods, that the pretence is more akin to the sales monkey rinsing his entertainment budget for the benefit of a young planner rinsing the media owner for a free lunch.  The symbiotic relationship offering up a platter of gain for both: the media owner gets to monopolise the young planner in a transparent attempt to impress and dare we say bribe the impressionable lad/lady, and the planner gets a jolly good slap up feed at a place where, on their wages, they would never be able to afford in a month of Sundays.

Yoplabo, is the latest trendy restaurant situated in the heart of London’s media centre to play host to this frankly embarrassing ritual.  Due to open in May 2010 it has positioned itself as the place to be this summer.

Owned by two veteran New York ex-plannerbuyers the concept has been to target Specifically one market.  In order to serve up it’s first portion of cool, the restaurant has invited only A list celebrities to it’s opening night.  Simon Cowell, Jordan and man bitch, N-Dubs, and the Proclaimers are all touted to have accepted invitations – Jordan has been placed on a contract meaning that she must eat there once a month, because she is a role model and business woman, to attract the younger crowd.

The finest Chateau de Déconner will be on offer with a set menu starting at £350 per person.  An à la carte menu will also be available with starters, including Welsh Rare Bit starting at £45.

DJ’s playing achingly cool trance and garage, will add to the ambience and guests will be given a complimentary gram of “elixir powder” following their meal.

Precise Media have already booked out the restaurant for the second night for a measly £24,000 not including any drinks, however they may not be able to dine there themselves…yet.  Only plannerbuyers are allowed to dine there, on the proviso that they follow a strict dress code; You may wear anything, preferably jeans, t-shirt and dirty trainers, but you must also be wearing (or have in attendance) a media owner plus media owner credit card or entry will be firmly, but politely refused.
